A Spotlight on Zoe Morning
If you are an artist, you’ve almost certainly shared a conversation with her. If you’re a festival-goer, you’ve felt the impact of her planning. Zoe Morning is an indispensable part of the Wausau Festival of Arts (WFoA), serving as the Festival Coordinator—the vital link between our artists and the board that keeps the festival thriving year after year.
Zoe’s journey with the arts began in college as an art major before she transitioned into a career in education. For many years, she served the Wausau School District as a teacher, a background that eventually made her the perfect fit for Wausau Festival of Arts
Her history with the WFoA spans over 18 years, starting with a volunteer role assisting Wendy Hannaman with the Young Collectors Market. That first experience introduced her to the festival community and sparked a nearly two-decade commitment to the festival.
Zoe didn't just step into the coordinator role; she helped build the festival’s modern foundation. Her contributions over the years include:
Pioneering the Emerging Artist Program: Helping new talent find their footing in the festival circuit.
Event Planning: Arranging the annual artist banquets to foster community among creators.
Executive Leadership: Serving as both the Treasurer and Board President.
As she approached her retirement from teaching, Zoe officially stepped into the role of Coordinator, and took on the task of artist registration.
When asked what keeps her motivated after nearly twenty years, the answer is simple: “I really enjoy working with the artists.”
This isn't just a professional sentiment—it’s a personal passion. Those lucky enough to visit Zoe’s home will find a beautifully curated collection of works, a testament to her deep appreciation for the artists who make the Wausau Festival of Arts so special.
Do you want to help keep the arts alive in our community? We are always looking for passionate volunteers to join our team!
