Celebrating Creativity: Leah Reynolds The 2025 Emerging Artist

We are thrilled to introduce Leah Reynolds, a talented artist from north-central Wisconsin, who was the 2025 Emerging Artist for the Wausau Festival of Arts.

Leah lives with her family on a small farm, a setting that clearly inspires her intricate work. As the owner and artist behind The Artsy Owl, Leah specializes in creating stunning, meditative mandalas. These aren't simply drawings; they are complex designs built meticulously, one single dot at a time .

Leah explains that the process itself is deeply personal: "There’s something really calming about the process," she says. "It’s quiet and focused, and it gives me a chance to slow down. Most of my inspiration comes from nature—colors, patterns, and the little details I notice around me. Making mandalas helps me find a sense of peace, and I hope my work brings that same feeling to others." She is driven by "a deep desire to grow—exploring new patterns, techniques and color combinations," having already refined her skills through classes in color theory and painting techniques.

The Emerging Artist Award

The Emerging Artist designation is chosen by the Wausau Festival of Arts board members and is reserved for talented creators who are new to the outdoor festival circuit. This award is designed to highlight promising talent and provide vital early exposure.

Reflecting on her experience, Leah shared that being named the Emerging Artist was "an incredible honor." She found the festival to be an unforgettable experience, noting how welcomed she felt by the community and how inspired she was by the many talented artists surrounding her. This positive reception has strongly encouraged her to keep growing, creating, and sharing her unique work at future shows.
